This post was once posted on another local site before named “NotQuiteIndie” or “NQI”. Just reposting it so that anyobdy who was not able to read it may get the chance to. Here’s the link to the article..
To quote:
Chaos. Anarchy. Rebellion. These are words that immediately come to mind as soon as the word “punk” is mentioned. Lester Bangs (whom most people credit for naming the genre) probably didn’t have The Sex Pistols in mind when he first used the term. In fact, in his very first published review for Rolling Stone, he used the term “punk” to refer to the MC5, a psychedelic band. In essence, he meant the lifestyle and not the music.
But eventually, the name stuck. So we have all these bands from the 70’s and 80’s like the aforementioned Sex Pistols and The Clash. It was called “punk rock” and the rock gods said, “it is good”. I don’t know if it was all just a trend, but to capitalize on the ordinarily-derogatory term “punk” and assumed the lifestyle of… well… a punk. Screaming out profanity and stepping on authority, punk rock took over the airwaves.
But here’s an interesting concept that people never, ever associate with punk rock – love.
I’m not talking about crappy Newfound Glory and their covers of vomit-inducing tearjerkers like “My Heart Will Go On”.
Take the Ramones. The Ramones spelled out “youth” in bold letters everywhere they went. With songs like “Rock ‘n’
Roll High School ” and “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up”, the punk rock pioneers carved out a niche in which all frustrated teenagers across the world could seek refuge. And, of course, what’s adolescence without love? To address the issue, the Ramones came up with songs like “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” and “What I Like About You”, classics that hopeless romantics can relate to, without compromising, of course, the punk rock image. And then, there was The Clash, perhaps the greatest punk band to have ever walked the earth in the sense that unlike other punk bands of the time who thrived on a dull, repetitive formula, they dared to be different (which, after all, is what punk rock is all about). The love song “Should I Stay or Should I Go” remains to be among their greatest hits.

Timeout!
LOL! Nothing serious though. Just want to write that I have finished making 3 new blogs that might interest some of you. I’ve not been earning much from my Bidvertiser Ads so I decided to apply for a new Adsense account and hopefully this will work out.
The topics I chose are really nice niches to delve into as it will generate much traffic, traffic that would be needed to generate enough residual income from these crappy blogs!

NU107 shutting down?
I’ve been hearing hearsays that the ROCK station that everybody [not everybody.. most people I think!] so love and leech music from is going to shut down their operations 3 months from now.
There has not been any confirmation though but if this is true it will be heartbreaking for most of the people who has been listening to the station for years now [specially ME!]. Some online buddies are still confirming with their comrades close to the people working in the station whether or not the rumors are true.
I’m so gonna miss Trish, Sophie and Dylan’s voice [sighs deeply], so as Francis Brew and even Papa Domz with his reggae “show” every Thursday nights.
It’s a disheartening news for most of us but let us just hope for the best for the station that we so most LOVE!
The Home of NU ROCK.. NU107.. 20 years Rock For Real.

Marie Digby
I think I’m freakin’ in LOVE!. LOL! I just stumbled upon her videos in YouTube as I was lurking in a local online forum days back and voila! somebody gave a link to her videos and man I saw angels after seeing her face and hearing her sing [well her voice is second..LOL!]
She has a cover of Rihanna’s infamous song Umbrella [yeah that funny sounding ela ela ela song!], Britney’s Gimme More [Marie Digby’s Cover made Britney Sound like an Amateur and a stripper.. LOL!] and Linkin Park’s What I’ve done [this is one of the songs where he plays the keyboard instead of the guitar], and i tell you, this girl can SING, she’s even better at playing the guitars compare to my stiff fingers.
She normally records the videos at home so aside from hearing her sing you’ll get to see her sing in her living room, dining room and even her bedroom [ c’mon pervs! work your brains out!]. In her Umbrella Cover, watch closely at the start of the video [you might miss it!], notice her biting her guitar pick that made me drool all over my pants! [exaggerating!] See for yourself and of course thank me for introducing her to you [Paypal Donations accepted… LOL!]
She’s HEAVEN SENT! I’ll spend half of my savings account just to be with her.[LOL!] . Well I’m seriously hooked into listening to her now matter how pop she may sound and how mushy her song could get, I know you’ll be hooked too..
Digby, whose mother is Japanese and father is Irish-American, is the eldest of three siblings including her sisters; Naomi (born December 12, 1985) and Erina (born August 8, 1987). She began writing songs in high school in LA and after graduating, spent one year at the University of California, Berkeley, living in Unit 2 Residence Hall before leaving college to concentrate on music full-time.[3] She came into the public light in 2004 after winning the Pantene Pro-Voice Music Competition with her autobiographical song “Miss Invisible”.
Go to go! Have to watch more of her videos!LOL!
