If some of you remembered, I wrote an article a month back about NU107 shutting down. Some of us have been waiting for updates to confirm the buzz about it.

One online buddy who knows someone who works in NU [Francis Brew i think], said that he chatted with Francis and he said that Francis did say that NU is NOT shutting down. At least now that gives a sigh of relief to every fan. Whew! I will still be able to hear Dylan’s voice on the box! LOL!

One thing more, there are plans of putting back NU107-Cebu [now that’s GOOD NEWS!]. They are just looking for the right partners.

Boohoo! Site updates!

New theme up! Had to tweak it a little bit to make it look more “edible” . :) Will still need to improve it some more as some portion looks more like trash. :)

Will be updating my blogroll too.. Just link me and I’ll link you back! :)

2008 Graduates!

Arrggh! Graduating College was never that much of an issue to me as I can still go back to school and continue studying anytime I want, graduating too is not a race, you may graduate first or graduate last, you’ll be wearing the same TOGA, singing the same song, accepting the same Diploma, and listen to the same GOD DAMN boring speech by a guest.. :)

But as I was lurking through Friendster a while back [if you don’t know friendster, then you must be asleep for all these years, friendster is a community sites where pervs lurk and psychopaths add you up thinking you’re friends], I saw a pic of highschool classmates wearing their TOGAS! Man I felt envious. I don’t know how to explain it but there was a sudden flashback of memoirs. When my sister graduated last year, I felt a ‘lil self-pity, but when I say my highschool classmate’s pic, DANG! i was crushed. Not to act overly disgusting but yeah that’s how I felt.

I have plans on taking CISCO or maybe continue taking my course for two more years. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I haven’t made up my mind yet. tsk3x. I would have been wearing the TOGA now. SOON! I’ll go back to school and take that diploma for myself.. :)

Music and Lyrics

this article was based on an interview with NOEL CABANGON by JAILEEN F. JIMENO

What I loved about this article is that there was a line there or let say a paragraph that mentioned about the quality of the songs aired in radio stations. Don’t want to say this but maybe some artists might want to read this article and gauge your music from what is great, good, mediocre and baloney. :)

To qoute:

Conversely, we have a lot of young writers right now. That’s why today’s radio is dominated mostly by music by the young, for the young. Surveys show that most radio stations now play more Filipino than foreign music. This is helped mainly by the revival of old songs. New bands are singing songs by the Apo Hiking Society, almost three decades after these first hit the airwaves.

My only disappointment is that the airwaves are also littered with some songs that can be considered trash. There are songs that are mediocre, that do not merit being produced and listened to. The writing is faulty, the lines are weak. Some songs have melodies that can be improved. Good music involves poetry, lyrical metaphors, words that create images in the mind without much effort. There should be no room for trite lines. Good writing, good music, involves profound thought.

The current social condition has caused the creation of “noontime show” music as well. This does nothing but excite viewers while a TV contest is going on. Other than that, it has no meaning, serves no other purpose, and contains no value. To me, it’s music for people who have no jobs, who are attracted to the concept of winning fast cash, which is a reflection of poverty in our country. It also serves as our babysitting tool, mesmerizing our children for hours.
