My Take: Arnel Pineda New Lead Singer of Journey

I know this is a late post since the “Arnel-Pineda-Journey’s-new-vocals” news came out. I have my reasons why it took me such amount of time to write about it. First, I was not born during Journey’s era. When I heard that Arnel is the new lead vocals for Journey, I was like, “Journey? Arnel? Oh OK!” .. “What band again?!”. No offense to the Journey fans, but I’m just 20 and I was born on the oh-so-poppy-Boyband era. Second, I was not feeling any hype at all with the news because I didn’t know who Arnel was, aside from his Filipino, and I didn’t know who Journey was until I heard their songs as I could hear my father sing their tunes but was not aware that it is a song by Journey, my bad! I know their songs, I just didn’t know that Journey played them, I suck at song titles and artists’ name but that wont make me incapable of giving my “review” for this matter.
I have not seen Journey perform live with Steve Perry or any other past vocalists that they had as they played in the 80’s - 90’s and that time I was just a little kid. I saw them perform on the Tube, yeah the Tube called YouTUBE!, and Steve Perry can really sing and knock those high notes out with ease. I had to watch the video as everybody was talking about the band and the new vocals. Ok so I had to check Arnel Pineda’s videos on the Tube too and right away you can tell that Arnel Pineda has talent like no other. He can belt those Journey songs as good as Perry — even better. There were a lot of vocalists that came after Perry [and I did watch their video and listened to every note belted, there was even 1 clip their that compared all the past vocals of Journey], but no one came near what talent and charisma Steve Perry has lend America and the world. If you will search through search engine for comments about Arnel Pineda, you will find out how much talent he has and maybe, just maybe, he’ll surpass what Steve Perry has accomplished. Arnel Pineda is simply FANTASTIC [ not a bias opinion! See for yourself in the Tube ], it’s like listening to Steve Perry with a punch. XD
Racist Remarks
An Asian in a once-was-All-American Band, what do you expect? Search through the net and of course you will find an overflow of message about what talent Arnel has to offer but you cant rid the fact of a barrage of ugly remarks thrown at the Filipino. Maybe these fanatics could not accept the fact the a small-brown-Filipino guy replaced Steve Perry from the lineup. That there were a number of Americans who auditioned for the spot but did not get the call while Arnel was just picked out of the blue. Arnel has a big shoe to fill and a lot of expectations to meet and I know and most of use believe that he can do that. Here’s some sample of sour comments thrown at Arnel and the Filipinos in general. Here are some of the comments:

proud flip,law of economics tell me its more work but less pay for your hero! you think journey is stupid to pay hundsinker, soto what their worth to do the work for them? bottom line, journey went shopping in asia cos its so damn cheap!!! you did’t really go for schons line, ” i sat for hours on youtube looking for a singer on line…. ” stuff and if you did i got something here for you to buy……………..
here we go again, curly, hundsinker did not sign cos the financial contract did not meet his expectation. family issue only an excuse to buy greed out of play. and mighty schon had to downplay the whole scenario to with hold public exposure.
you need to read between the lines…you flips are so gullible and illiterate. no wonder your country is the poorest in asia. and thats the truth! you sell your own women overseas as domestic helpers but the reality of the fact is not what they do. well i guess its not all that bad considering the world need somebody to pick up the dirty work. Sooooooooo SAD……..oh well thats life!Like what your singer says in his video, “SHIT HAPPENS!!!”. HAVE YOU HAD YOUR COFFEE YET??????

Hope ya people of l’il minds understand now! Not long ago I read some published report to an article about the UN devising a plan to end worldwide starvation. The plan consist of a team of qualified professionals auditing poverty-stricken countries around the globe. As I recall this group is named, the International or Foreign Social Services Enforcement Agency, much like Interpol. They gonna do away with the donation services since all the money may not be going there 100%! Be advised and listen. I just gave y’all a heads up piece of my mind. Shape up or face the MUSIC hence y’all are so called karaoke music lovers from time to time. May be in some future date some of y’all might get lucky enough and end up in front of spotlight much like your long overdue protoge journey lovin’ singer. Thus that long and farfetched untouchable dream y’all were longing for all your life may come true when there no longer exist one last starving child in this world to feed. Last post…and good luck to all!!! BTW, I have been to and know of a Lake Placid which is nice and cool during winter season but that lake of fire you mentioned that place is reserved to the ones responsible for the suffering starving young children. Mr. Inspector
The comments above were from a person who claimed he was an inspector. There are far more worse comments that he gave but It will fill up the whole page if i’ll post it all up. All I can say is that this so called “MR. INSPECTOR” is SICK. If anybody knows him or if you are reading now Mr. Inspector, go get a chair, sit tight, bend a little, then go suck your own STICK! [sorry for the language readers]. Maybe this so called Mr. Inspector is a relative of an auditionee for the position or was an auditionee.. XD sourgrapes!
and there are comments who lifts some of your spirits up in response to some racists remarks.
CAN ANYBODY GET IT??? TALENT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT AVAILABLE IN THE USA OR EUROPE SO THEY HAD TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT, THEY FOUND ONE AND HIS NAME IS ARNEL PINEDA. IN ANY CASE, WHY IS IT THAT EVERYONE IS SO NEGATIVE INSTEAD OF LOOKING AT THIS WHOLE THING AS SOMETHING POSITIVE AND GOOD. LET THIS GUY SING, LET JOURNEY DO WHAT IT WANTS TO DO AND THEN, ALL YOUR “EXPERT” OPINIONS CAN COME AFTER THEY RELEASE THEIR FIRST CD OR CONCERT. TILL THEN, SAVE YOUR SPIT AND QUIT THE NEGATIVE STUFF.

Reading the inspector’s comments, I feel a lot of anger and hatred. It’s either some Filipina broke this idiot’s heart or he must have applied for Journey’s front man job and got the boot. And he had the audacity to post his “Inspector Profession” like anyone really cares. He just gave the entire world an idea about the kind of “inspector” that he really is….
haha isn’t it funny because i also have the same gut feeling that he was dissed by a gorgeous filipina! hahaha! or if not, maybe one of his relatives or friends were dissed by journey, as well! arnel was right, shit happens!! haha! poor “inspector”..he tried to talk like this smart ass but failed to impress us all! hey mr. “inspector”, you are no pro giving opinions ok so stick to what ur good at (if there is any cause you seemed like you have none! haha)! you may have rested your case, but i know you will be checking out these comments. you’ll never get what you want sickhead so rather you picking up shit from others, why dont you start picking up on yours cause they’re a million times as bad! it is a no-brainer that you need prozac if not divine intervention–mister “inspector”… *puke!*
There’s a number of “hate” comments thrown, but there is a barrage of nice comments thrown back too. Arnel Pineda will just prove to the word why he is now the new voice of Journey!

I just learned about Arnel Pineda last december of 2007. I was blown away by his voice too. Let us not perpetuate the anger, instead let us just enjoy the music. I for one will not pay attention to this racist remarks, this is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Let us respect each other please. PEACE

talentwise, Arnel A++, no question.. Everyone is indeed entitled to their opinion but to the extent of giving out racists remarks? i cant accept that fact… though we cant stay bitter for it, at least let them try to appreciate his talent and not say such remarks thrown at an entire race…
I’m Filipino and i can feel he is talking to me too because of the racist remark.. he is speaking against a race… it’s not because the Philippines is a third world country and such “racists” coming from God-knows-who where they come from gives them to right to throw such demeaning words..

To say that i’m not updated with what’s going on is an understatement. I simply refuse to care and that’s why I only learned about Arnel last week. He is awesome no doubt and the only reason he is being criticized is because of his race. Had he been caucasian, the entire world would have loved him right away (sigh)I hope people will realize that music goes beyond geographical and racial boundaries. No amount of antipathy can stop Arnel from singing.

Journey?, well I Listen to Steve Perry/ Arnel Pineta…And to tell you the truth I hear the Difference.. You cannot replace Steve p., and You never will. But, on the Bright side you don’t have too…Arnel..I s Good too, and should not be there to replace anyone, But, bring his own voice, ways etc. Stop comparing the too, And allow Journey to enjoy the new lead singer. P.s no comments from Steve P. Either way so.. He must agree with the members of the Band…
I’ll buy the new cd, and If Steve P. puts out a solo I’ll by that too…

I am a die hard steve perry/journey fan,and I think those two names should always be synonymous.But because of reasons and differences that the band members couldnt resolve it leaves us journey fans deprived of ever seeing what we want most; and that is a true journey reunion with steve.unfortunatley its only wishful thinking and we have to realize that arnel is only reaping the result of selfishness between steve and journey members so called reasons for not truly
reuniting.We can not blame and bash arnel for being in the right place at the right time. Arnel is very good fill in at this present time and untill or if steve ever comes back Im sure arnel will do very well

Arnel is the new voice of Journey and there is no turning back. I enjoy listening to some of the new songs and am hoping to hear more great songs in the future. I guess the new CD/DVD Revelation album set is perfect for introducing the group to the new generation of Journey fans, like me!
This is a good post! Never mind the racist remarks, don’t listen to them! Songs of Journey are much better to listen to than these rants! I think by now, with all the SOLD OUT CONCERTS, the naysayers are slowly being converted because lots of them are quiet now! This is good. And just as I had hoped, Journey’s brilliant performance silenced the pessimists!

Emotions have been stirred up big time and we can all understand why. As people who have the same race with Arnel, I can empathize with the rest who felt the same way. The message has been sent to Mr. Inspector and the rest and I believe this can be a humbling experience for those who have a good heart from these reactions.
But what would Jesus say given the same premise? The Scripture that touched my heart was John 8: 1-12. Jesus does not only die for people who love and believe in Him, but He died for sinners like us. Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery ““Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” I believe, Jesus have the same Words to all of us and to Mr. Inspector.
Jhn 8:9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
Jhn 8:10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

I’ve seen poverty in all side of the world and the U.S. is no exception.
To those who are less educated or perhaps bigots is probably more appropriate in this matter. Filipino’s have a long standing history with you HAOLIS, just ask those Americans who remember the death march of Bata-an in WWII. And you can appreciate those Pinoy’s and Pinay’s that stood with your country men in the worse of time.
Farther more, you can actually Wiki the history of the Philippines and help educate yourself of the travesty that was cause of bigotry, when the Filipinos were nearly wipe out to an extinction due the American ideology of supremacy.
The less you haters could do is celebrate this opportunity to those folks that once you suppress and still considered you guys a friend. We are a peace loving people and to those who had the experience to know these things, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
