Sweet Scrutiny: Malu Fernandez “Blogging - a slacker’s job”
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Also you may want to leave a comment to the posts. xD Thanks for visiting! |m|
I was doing my usual daily bloghopping routine when I saw an interesting post about Malu Fernandez hating bloggers.
Malu Fernandez, in her Manila Standard Today column notoriously declared:
“But blogging, aside from Perez Hilton and the other big time bloggers (you know who you are) is for me a slacker job or a medium and pastime for lonely people to connect. Unless you’re in bloody Siberia or in a Gulag prison, try stepping outside your comfort zone and turn off the laptop or pc, you just might find some real live people to talk to instead of typing away in cyber space.”
AFAIK, I dont really have that much of a clue who Malu Fernandez is aside from she is a columnist who bashed OFWs.This is the sweetest thing about blogging, you can vent you what you feel and a majority of people will be able to read, ponder and comment on your posts. That is my real intention of blogging, being heard. Whoever said that “blogging” was a slacker’s job or a medium and pastime for lonely people to connect, should please try to grab a cup of coffee, put it some sugar or cream, stir it lightly and pretty please spill it to your face.
Blogging for me is not just an online diary as I don’t just write about the oh-so-mushy love poems and qoutes , the overly-corny words spoken between me and my girlfried [to think I don’t have a girlfriend] and post the lyrics of schmaltzy songs I heard that day. I write about “something”, things that I loved, I do and I mostly dream of doing for years to come. I blog about the music scene, punk rock, anything linux, anything extreme and anything in between and that does not make me a slacker right?
I don’t how Malu Fernandez associated “blogging” with slacking. Slacking as far as Answers is concern is a person who shirks their work or duty. Dictionary check please Ms. Malu!
While some bloggers blog to earn residual income, I have not had that much luck on earning residual income from blogging, but I’m still blogging, because I’m enjoying the heck of it. I’m no reckless blogger too, I don’t blog-and-hide as I have placed my picture [ to the disgust of my site’s viewers ] with the links to my profile to community sites I’m in. No matter how much I bash anybody with my blog, they will still be able to find me.
Another point here is I HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE BLOGGING. I work as a Technical Support in a WebHosting Company where I leech my domain and webhosting account from, I play in a band, I play basketbally afternoon, I watch local punk/hxc gigs and I party with friends and get wasted on weekends. So much for your “try stepping outside your comfort zone and turn off the laptop or pc, you just might find some real live people to talk to instead of typing away in cyber space.”
In this blog I am the owner, in this blog entry I am the editor-in-chief [WTF! fetish for role playing], in the whole blogosphere I am one of the writers of tales that may put a smile or a smirk on every readers faces. I am a blogger! I blogged, I blog, and I will blog because I want to and I like to.

Hello. Inviting you again to this weeks Merlin Club. =)
i would love to join but have not had much luck of traffic from the club.. hhehehe.. all i got was like 4 backlinks..
we joined because we want readers to read out article..
would it be fine if you could like make some refinements and feature the “BEST Article” from all the articles and he gets to be on top of the list an adspace from your site.. i think that will lure more people to join the said club more often..
after that OFW fiasco she has brought about, i’m not reading or listening to anything malu fernandez has to say. she thrives on sensationalism and cynicism and hatred for the world. it’s what’s keeping her alive. poor her.
she has this “im-elite-you-should-listen-to-me” attitude..
but her views.. PFFFFFT! my 5-yr-old neighbor has better views than her.. she just speaks and writes better english though.. LMFAO
You’re soo right about blogging!! I also treat my blog more than just an online diary… I meet my friends there.. I think all bloggers deserve the right to blog on whatever they want to blog about. And people like Malu turns out to be like people who are soo jealous of us bloggers. Its not our fault when our blog in just one snap or not becomes popular online and we suddenly earn a lil income from it.. That’s the way it goes here online. Its very lame when people like Malu whine about it.XD
Take care dude and thanks for dropping by my blog.
-xoxo-
malu fernandez is getting the bloggers’ attention again. she must be laughing out loud right now. negative publicity is still publicity for people like her.
amen. she’s famous for what she’s doing or has done.
added you to my links. add me to your link LOVE, too? pwease? =)
@Babyjen & @ceblogger — MALU IS RIDDING THE WAVE! since blogging is “in” right so might as well bash the bloggers so she’ll be on the spotlight again.. the DUMB AND FAMOUS!
@lourie.. sure lourie.. will add you up
Hey, thank you for visiting my site. As for Malu, I don’t really give a damn. I think she likes the feeling of being talked about since nobody reads her opinions anymore right after insulting OFWs. Believe me I was thinking about blogging about her but on second thought, she might benefit more than me. (evil laugh) Well, there’s traffic and everything but I’m willing to sacrifice and besides- talking about Brian Gorell & the Gucci Gang is better.
Will add you up in my blogroll, hope you’ll do the same.
hahaha.. well both Brian and Malu will benefit by blogging about them but I like to bash malu as she has this “OH-IM-SO-ELITE” thing running through her head right now..
Malu who? Tch, I don’t even wanna find out anything about her. So what I’m thinking right now is that Malu’s being one of the current Paris Hiltons of the Philippines. *rolls eyes*
LOL, you’re right about her speaking and writing better English though?
Link love?
she’s just being plain bitchy.. hahaha..
i’ll add you up in my “LINK LOVE”

Your BLOG has just WAY TOO MANY ADS… Why even bother blogging? It just defeats the purpose. Why dont you just place ADS here, no more, no less.
@Michael Sevilla
that’s a very simple question… I have WAY TOO MANY ADS because that’s once purpose of blogging… not to be rich but to earn just enough to pay for the domain and the hosting of this site..
I’m not too sure if you even have your own domain name because if you do, you will know the expense of running a site with hosting and dedicated domain…
its called residual income.. xD .. well im actually planning to remove the ads that are not generating income per se..
.. thanks for the comment anyway.. xD
