“David vs. Goliath”, this I think should be the best title for the match between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 KOs) and Oscar “the Golden Boy” Dela Hoya (39-5, 30 KOs) for the Golden Boy’s farewell match to his very illustrious career on December 6, 2008. David won against Goliath in the story, but does anybody think Pacquiao has the slightest chance against the Golden Boy? Well, I’ll assume all the PacHugs probably think that Pacquiao is going to knock out the Golden Boy.

Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar dela HoyaThis fight was one of the match up I personally staged in Fight Night 2 [a Playstion video game], including Arturo Gatti vs. Holyfield, Jose Luis Castillo vs. Ali and many more mismatches that I created in the Fight Night Video game. Well, that was a video game, so I could match anybody I want, I was the matchmaker in all sorts, but, Pacquiao vs, Dela Hoya on December 6? In a business standpoint, this could make sense, this could really make a lot of $en$e. Dela Hoya, the sports’ most bankable star, against the Pound-for-Pound King, or to rephrase it, the Pay-Per-View King vs. Pound-for-Pound King. But for legacy’s sake, this bout does not make sense at all! Oscar wants his last fight to be a bang, but does defeating a shorter fighter like Pacquiao cements his name in the boxing books? NOT! If Oscar wanted to go out with a bang, he should have fought Margarito, Pavlik, Calzaghe, Williams or anybody on top of the division with his size, but he chose the easy way out, challenging Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao isn’t in a bad situation here. He gets his biggest purse. If he loses, as is generally expected, he will lose no prestige whatsoever, but an upset win will send Pacquiao’s earning power and all-time status soaring into the stratosphere. It’s a win-win situation for Pacquiao, but on Oscar’s side, he only wins money-wise. He does not prove anything if he will defeat Pacquiao.

I really don’t have any problem with the match, it’s just that, not every hardcore boxing fans want to see this fight. Every hardcore boxing fan wants to see Oscar fight and Pacquiao fight, but they don’t want to see both fighters agains each other because it’s just wrong. Another thing to point out, Mayorga, Mosley, Trinidad, Vargas and others were not able to KO Dela Hoya, if Pacquiao thinks he can KO Dela Hoya, then he must be kidding. Oscar is not David Diaz that he can outclass and knock out, maybe he can outrun and out box Dela Hoya, but he can’t KO Dela Hoya.

It remains to be seen how the fight will turn out. I am favoring Dela Hoya to win this by KO. I am a Filipino and I should support Pacquiao, but not now, I can’t be biased and tell everybody that the Pacman can KO the Golden Boy, even if there is a chance, it is just so slim. For now, let the hype begin.

Building a new THEME [UPDATE]

I have finalized and submitted the wordpress theme I have created and I am just waiting for the confirmation if it was approved.

Your new theme, GreyMonger Theme, has been added to the directory and is pending a review. Once your theme has been reviewed and approved it will be available for download from the directory. You will receive an email notifying you when this happens.

As of now, I am just waiting for the confirmation mail that the theme is already available for the public. Before Wordpress will make it available to the public they will be taking it for a test drive and I will just get another email from them after that.

UPDATE:

I just received an email from Wordpress containing some of the fixes needed. Here are the 2 most important fixes needed:

- Shows post categories, but not post tags
- Doesn’t support Gravatars

Have to work again, I’ll be updating later. If you want to check out the theme, here’s the link to it: BUSBY SEO CHALLENGE

Michael Phelps is EVIL!

Here’s an animated picture showing how evil Michael Phelp is. Michael PHELPS Evil! [LOL]

Michael Phelps is EVILMichael Fred Phelps (born June 30, 1985) is an American swimmer. He is a14-time Olympic gold medalist (the most by any Olympian) and he currently holds seven world records in swimming.

Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics with the eight golds he won at the 2008 Olympic Games. With this record, he surpassed Mark Spitz, who was also a swimmer and had held the previous gold medal total with the seven that he won at the 1972 Olympic Games.

Michael Phelps is EVIL! [of course the animated pic is edited.] I have to give kudos to whoever made this GIF, really EPIC!

Building a new theme

I have been busy for the past 5 days as I am building a new Wordpress theme from scratch. It was supposed to be finished 2 days ago but a very unfortunate event happened, I overwritten my stylesheet.css without a backup. So I had to rebuild everything all over from scratch.

I will be posting the link once I finalize the design and test everything before uploading to wordpress. Hope everything will go smoothly as planned [and I hope I will not be able to overwrite my existing stylesheet.. LOL].

Stay tuned amigos!

Michael Phelps will receive 1 year supply of Pizza

Michael Phelps will receive 1 year supply of Pizza, Michael Phelps endorsements, Michael Phelps commercials, Michael Phelps sponsors, Michael Phelps 8 gold medals, Mark Spitz, Mark Spitz and Michael Phelps endorsement, Michael Phelps swimmer, Michael phelps sports iconAfter winning 8 Gold Medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, swimming machine Michael Phelps, and the rest of the U.S. men and women swim team, will receive free pizza and pasta for a year from Pizza Hut. That’s a lot of pizza and pasta for all of them but the investment for the sponsorship could very well payoff as Phelps has been a household name worldwide after winning 8 Golds in the Olympics. Aside from Pizza Hut, a lot of companies have contacted Phelps for a tie-up. Even before the Olympics, Phelps have been earning an annual income of $5 million from corporate endorsements from companies like AT&T, Visa, PowerBar, Omega and Speedo. Now that he has won 8 Gold Medals, breaking the 36-year old record set by Mark Spitz, many companies could now be far more interested in the swimming machine Michael Phelps. Speedo has already paid him a $1 million bonus for breaking Spitz’s record.

Swimmers don’t usually get that much attention and they are not even household names. Swimming is not something that you watch on primetime TV, you only get to watch this on sporting events such as the Olympics which only happens every 4 years. Phelp’s has change the way everybody looks at the game and he has raised the bar not just for swimmers but for every athletes.

Now there are even more rumors of Phelps and Spitz to appear in joint appearances and endorsement deals (and this is a biggie). For now, all that Michael Phelps has to do is to savor everything while it lasts. One thing is sure though, Michael Phelps is leaving Beijing as a sports icon. :)

Punk Goes Crunk

I have just downloaded the Punk Goes Crunk Album (again, illegally) and I have been listening to it for the past days. For everybody’s sake, Punk Goes Crunk is the latest album from Fearless Records that is part of the Punk Goes album series. You’ve been begging to hear hip-hop/r&b songs to be covered by some punk bands, here’s what Fearless Records have to offer you. Here is the track list of the album.

1. Put Yo Hood Up (Lil John) - Set Your Goals
2. Got Your Money (Ol’ Dirty Bastard) - Say Anything
3. I Wish (Skee-Lo) - The Secret Handshake
4. Men in Black (Will Smith) - Forever the Sickest Kids
5. California Love (2PAC) - My American Heart
6. I Wanna Love You (Akon) - The Maine
7. Kryptonite (Purple Ribbon All-Stars) - Emanuel
8. The Seed (The Roots) - Person L
9. Still Fly (Big Tymers) -The Devil Wears Prada
10. Umbrella (Rihanna) - All Time Low
11. Notorious Thugs (Notorious BIG) - Scary Kids Scaring Kids
12. Nothin’ But A “G” Thang (Dr. Dre) - The Escape Frame
13. Gin and Juice (Snoop Dogg) - Hot Rod Circuit
14. Hey Ya! (OutKast) - Lorene Drive
15. Tennessee (Arrested Development) - New Found Glory

I have not really had the chance to listen to all the tracks, specially tracks 12,13,14 and 15, cause I’m always tempted to switch my playlist to Skindred. I would give The Maine’s version of Akon’s song two thumbs up and 4 thumbs up to The Secret Handshake’s version of I Wish. One notable thing about the album though is that most of the bands featured could either be considered Powerpop/Pop Punk. One last thing, I honestly think that Vanilla Sky’s version of Umbrella(plus a kickass video) is far better that All Time Low’s version. Though they had different approach on how to cover the song, I still think that Vanilla Sky gave the “Punk” side to it, while All Time Low’s versions was “Powerpop”. Whether or not you are a punk fan (or a part of the herd of girls screaming their lungs out if they see every band’s “cute” member), the album is still worth wasting time listening to and do yourself a favor, grab a copy of it, illegally or legally.

I wonder what the next Punk Goes album will be. Punk Goes Bob perhaps? xD
