If you were here looking for the DOST Scholarship Exam Results or Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey or just plainly lurking, you may have noticed that the site was down. I am not sure what error you may have seen, maybe Error 500 or a database error, but now we are back online.
There was a database problem on the database server I was in and it took my host, 1&1 Internet, almost 48 hours to fix the problem. That was not fun at all. I was on the verge of reaching another payout for Google Adsense and that downtime cost me a lot of traffic and clicks!
Lesson learned. I will now make a backup of the database and another copy of the config file so that I can easily swap the config file to call the backup database if the database server goes down again.
On a lighter note, Survivor 20: Heroes vs Villains Episode 5 will air tomorrow. I am excited! Hopefully, the site does not go down again.
Fingers crossed!

I’ve been dealing with (what I assume is) this same 1&1 database server issue. My db came back up too but they’d rolled it back to an older version, so all changes that had been made from approximately 3/6 to when their server went down on 3/8 were lost. If you haven’t already, you may want to double check your data to make sure it’s all there. 1&1 has assured me that my data can be restored completely but I’m still waiting to see if that’s true. Just did a quick Google search and saw your post and wanted to pass that info on to you.

@brak
I was not the only victim then. I did not really make any new posts on those dates, so I cant check whether I lost data..
I may have lost some comments but I really cant trace.. from now on, will do backup for WP and db every now and then.
