After 24 years, the Philippine basketball team is now off to a medal play in the ongoing 2011 FIBA ASIA Championship. Smart Gilas Pilipinas won against Chinese Taipie in the FIBA ASIA Quarterfinals with a final score of 95-78.

Smart Gilas Pilipinas will now proceed to the 2011 FIBA ASIA Semi-Finals against Team Jordan who defeated defending champions Iran. See the schedule below for the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship Semi Finals.

2011 FIBA Asia Championship Semi Finals Schedule:
Semis#1: (3:30pm) Jordan vs. Philippines
Semis#2: (6:00pm) Korea vs. China
The FIBA Asia champion will be given an outright berth to the 2012 London Olympics. The 2nd and 3rd placers, on the other hand, will qualify in the FIBA Olympic Qualifiers.

FIBA championship always thrills the basketball lovers. Posting the schedule here was very helpful for me because I look forward to all FIBA matches. I hope Philippines gets through the semi-finals.

I love basketball and look forward to FIBA Championship matches as it thrills and excites me a lot. Asia’s big guns clashed in the semi finals and Jordan and China emerged as winners. I hope this will be an update for the above blog post for those who want to know who the winners are
